Medium: Egg tempera and gold gilding on wood.

Very nice detail and quality gilding on this early 20th century Russian school icon. Based on the 14th century icon from St. Catherine’s Monastery of Mount Sinai.

More about this icon: On the Sunday before His death on the cross, Jesus entered the city of Jerusalem. Great multitudes of people took palm branches and went out to meet Him, while crying out "Hosanna! 'Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!' The king of Israel!" (John 12:12-13).

Measures approx. 12.25”H x 10.5”W. Overall good condition with minor wear consistent with age and use as seen in the pictures.

Retains original sticker from an Italian antiques store in Taormina, Sicily where item was previously purchased.
