Here is a beautiful Antique 19th Century French patinated Bronze "Retour Des Cerises" By CHARLES ANFRIE
Measures approx. 19”H. Some loss to gilding as seen in pictures. Overall good condition with wear consistent with age.
This substantial pieces features a pretty young girl walking happily after picking cherries. Titled “Retour des Cerises” on base. French school of the late 19th century. The designs of the work of Charles Anfrie were based on figures of young women and children but he also designed medals.
Charles Anfrie exhibited at the Salon between 1883 and 1895. His work includes French military subjects, figures of young women and children, and medals. His models are meticulously chiseled. Let us name a few models: “Les dernières cartouches” in bronze, “Estafette” (exhibited in plaster at the 1888 Salon), “La clé des champs” and “le petit fumeur”.
