Antique 19th Century 10K Gold Rhodolite Garnet Mourning Brooch 9.84TCW

This intricately made mourning brooch is crafted in 10K yellow gold using a wax cast, hand-assembled and hand-finished technique. The piece measures approximately 33.00 mm by 27.00 mm and features twelve round bezel-set rhodolite garnets (0.82 ct each), arranged around a central rectangular frame. The frame is hand engraved and contains a glass-enclosed braided portion of human hair—typical of 19th-century mourning jewelry traditions.

The garnets display a medium tone, slightly purplish-red hue, with moderate saturation. They are well-finished, showing fair polish, symmetry, and proportions. The entire brooch has a high-polish finish and is structurally secured with a joint and pin assembly in a slightly curved form.

Total brooch weight: 9.62 grams
